Hello, I’m David

I have over 15 years of experience working within the NHS, supporting people facing a wide range of challenges including depression, anxiety, bereavement, trauma, addiction, and long-term health difficulties. Before this, I worked as an addiction’s counsellor in a rehabilitation centre and provided support for parents in educational settings.

I am a fully accredited member of the BACP and abide by their ethical framework.

I welcome clients from all backgrounds and have extensive experience supporting people from diverse cultural and ethnic communities, as well as those from LGBTQ+ backgrounds.

I also have a particular interest in helping people living with long-term health conditions, where emotional support and understanding can make a real difference.

My approach

As an integrative counsellor, I draw on different therapeutic approaches to create a holistic way of working, that best suits your needs. Through a person-centred approach, we will fully explore the issues that are troubling you. Having the space to be heard, many people gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their relationships, and their emotions, leading to greater balance, clarity, and confidence in being their true self.

Working together

I’m also a qualified Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) practitioner, which is particularly helpful when difficulties in relationships are linked to changes in mood or life events. We will aim together to overcome feelings of depression, find calm and seek to improve your sense of connection with the world and those around you. Where needed, we will use therapeutic models & tools that will provide further guidance and personal growth.

Moving forward

Sessions are available in person or online, and I offer both short- and longer-term therapy.

Sometimes people need some help to 'self right' and get back on track and at other time's people need time and space to delve deeper and go at their own pace. It is whatever feels right for you.
